Welcome to my first post! This website serves two purposes. Firstly, this is the home of the CNM Investing Analysis Templates. These are Microsoft Excel templates designed to help you step-by-step through the analysis of a company, using only its financial reports. However, in a world cluttered with unreliable internet sources, you might wonder why you should trust what I offer through CNM Investing…
About me
So, who am I? I sat the CFA level 1 exam in February 2024, passing by scoring in the 90th percentile on the first try. Additionally, I have a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from EPFL, a globally acclaimed institute for its research and teaching in the natural sciences. Beyond my academic credentials, I’ve been actively investing in stocks for the last four to five years. I’ve read a significant amount of investment literature and have also applied this knowledge by investing my own money, trying my best to adhere to the strategies I’ll be sharing with you. Of course, not all my investments were smart. I’d say 60% of my dumb investments were products of emotional biases and the other 40% a combination of bad luck, bad analyses and other factors. However, I am also proud of some smart investments, and even more importantly, the pitfalls I avoided, some of which involved stocks that later plummeted by up to 50% within a year or two.
I will never claim to make you successful in your investments. In fact, I encourage you to take everything I say with a grain of salt! Always keep asking questions. Don’t hesitate to contact me via email or LinkedIn if you think something I shared seems wrong or incomplete.
Financial Mathematics
The second aim for this website is to feature a blog which will focus on financial mathematics – largely geared towards investment analysis. Articles will relate to anything from a new topic or subject, theorem or definition which I find interesting all the way to little explanatory introductions in said topics. Having only recently graduated with my bachelor’s, I haven’t had much time to delve into this specific area of mathematics, so I invite you to join me as we learn about these fascinating fields.
